A Forward Deployed Engineer works directly with the people, systems and data around a problem, then writes and ships the production software required to solve it.
Traditional delivery often separates discovery, architecture, implementation and operations across different teams. FDE compresses that distance. The engineer learning how the workflow really behaves is also able to change the software, integration or data system that makes it behave differently.
